CONESTOGA STUDENTS are RECIPIENTS
of
ROTARY CLUB BOOK GIFTS

The first week of February brought Plattsmouth Rotary Club
members to Conestoga Schools with priceless gifts of atlases
and dictionaries!

Below, Plattsmouth Rotary Club members stopped at Conestoga Elementary School last week to distribute 50 new dictionaries to all third-graders.

Rotarians, Keith Roby, Cheryl Blue, Marcy Wagner, and Brian Harvey are shown going through the new dictionaries with the students.

their new atlases as they talked about polio eradication efforts in those countries.

VOLUNTEERS to be HONORED at LOFTE

Each February the Lofte Community Theatre takes a deep breath before the start of its new season. An evening is set aside to salute its volunteers and honor them with food and gifts. This year, the Volunteer Recognition and Annual Meeting is set for Saturday, February 27th at 6pm.

The Dale Crosby Awards will be given to three of the Lofte's most outstanding volunteers. The award is named in honor of long-time Lofte President and friend, Dale Crosby of Weeping Water whom we lost in 2001. Mr. Crosby was a man who never found any job too small or unimportant. His dedication and hard work inspired many and he is still sorely missed.

In conjunction with the Volunteer Recognition activities, the Lofte Board of Directors will conduct a short business meeting to inform the public of its financial standing and plans for the future. Artistic Director, Kevin Colbert will also review the 2009 season highlighting his favorite performances and fondest memories. He will also announce his show selections for the 2011 season.

All members of the Lofte Community Theatre are invited to attend. Membership is earned if you have ever purchased a ticket, volunteered your time, donated funds or performed on stage. Basically, if you've ever been to the Lofte or helped in any way, you're invited! The evening is your chance to relax, catch-up with old friends and enjoy some delicious food.

Please RSVP for this event by calling the box office at (402) 234-2553 or emailing Jean Colbert at LofteTickets@Lofte.com.

The Lofte Community Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization supported in part by The Cooper Foundation, The Midlands Community Foundation, and the Cass County Visitors Promotion Committee.  The Lofte Community Theatre is dedicated to providing opportunities for area residents of all ages to participate in the creation process and companionship of live theatre in rural Nebraska and to enjoy the social, artistic, and educational benefits of this art form.

A BAG FULL of HOPE!!!

For some people, that's what you get when you receive soap, deodorant and shampoo in a bag.  Unfortunately, many men, women and children at the Open Door Mission are in need of these common, everyday items.

The Murray Christian Church and Boy Scout Luke Minor are collecting personal care items through the month of March.  Items will be placed in individual 'Hope Totes' for each recipient and distributed on Easter Sunday.

You may drop off items at the Murray Christian Church or call 235-2926 and ask Luke to pick them up.

Below is a list of items that these homeless men, women and children would appreciate so very much:

*  Toothbrush
*  Toothpaste
*  Liquid soap
*  Shaving cream
*  Deodorant
*  Lip balm
*  Hand Lotion
*  Socks
*  Brush / Comb
*  Tissues
*  Ethnic hair products
*  Underwear
*  Disposable razors
*  Baby / child bath products
(NON-alcoholic items, only)

(NO CASH, PLEASE!)

Thank you for your HOPE!

Hope to see you all there!!

A group of 10 Conestoga students will be going to Europe in June of this year. The group,  "Students to Europe"  will be making educational visits to Germany where they'll see Dachau concentration camp, Munich and Heidelberg. In France, Paris, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the French Riviera all await their visit.  They will then pass through Monaco and visit the medieval town of Eze. The group will then head to Spain to experience Barcelona, Zaragoza and Madrid where they'll see the Prado Museum.  Two teachers and four parents will accompany the students to Europe.   This adventure promises to be the experience of a lifetime!

The student group has been working hard in concession stands, selling candles and organizing 'Jeans Days' for the Conestoga teachers, however the
'Ice Cream Extravaganza' will be an all new project for them.

This spring the STE group will be sponsoring "day camps" for Conestoga Elementary students to learn to speak a little Spanish (March 27th, 9-11am) and some German, also.  (April 3rd 1-3pm)
