AMERICAN_FLAG

MEMORIAL DAY...
was first observed in 1868, honoring the fallen soldiers of the Civil War,
both Confederate and Union.  The holiday then changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war. It is now celebrated in nearly every state on the last Monday in May.

This Memorial Day, remember to honor all of our fallen military men and women.

KIDS_PLAYING

Conestoga schools dismissed for the summer last Thursday, May 20th.
Kids are out playing, riding their bikes and skateboards, and walking
to the parks, so be careful as you're driving around town.
Remember,
the speed limit is 25 miles per hour,
not only on main street, but also in
residential areas

"Happy Paws" Plattsmouth Animal Advocacy Group is participating in
the Buccaneer Bay Garage Sales on Saturday, June 5, 2010.
Sales start
at 8 AM to 4 PM.
Volunteers will be in an open lot on the
main road (Buccaneer Blvd.) coming into Buccaneer Bay.
If the wind cooperates we will have our
Happy Paws
banner displayed at our site. Please stop by and see what
treasures we have to offer
(all to benefit the shelter animals, of course).
Speaking of treasures ......... are you familiar with the old saying,
"One man's trash is another man's treasure"?
We are looking for generous people to donate some
treasures to our cause. If any of you would like to "find new homes" for some
of your items we would love to take it off your hands!
All we ask is that you make arrangements
to get it to us at least the day before and that you mark them
with appropriate prices.
The coordinators for this fundraiser are Fred & Judy Schlingman.
Their phone number is 402-298-8042.
Please contact them with any questions and any donations
for the sale or the shelter.
(Be sure to wish Judy a Happy Birthday, too!)
We really appreciate all of your continued support (and so does Shadow)!

Children's Theater Auditions at Lofte in Manley

Manley, NE [May 20, 2010]- Auditions for the Missoula Children's Theatre
production of "King Arthur's Quest"  will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010
from 10am to 12pm at the Lofte Community Theatre near Manley.  There are
roles for students entering 1st grade through 7th grade.  There is no cost to
participate in this production.  Those wishing to audition must arrive by 10am
and be prepared to stay for the whole two-hour session.  The first rehearsal
begins 15-30 minutes after auditions.  There is no guarantee that everyone
who auditions will be cast in the play.  This is a group audition.  No advance
preparation is necessary, but a smile always helps!

The first rehearsal will begin at approximately 12:30pm on Monday, right after
auditions.  Subsequent rehearsals will take place at the Lofte each day that
week (through June 19) from 10am to 2:30pm.  Although not all actors will be
needed at each session, they should make sure they have a clear schedule
for the entire week.  It is important that each child attends ALL rehearsals
required for their role.   A detailed schedule for each child/role will be distributed
after auditions.

The Missoula Children's Theatre is a non-profit organization based in Missoula,
Montana. This year they will work with more than 65,000 children across the globe.
Missoula's residency week at the Lofte Community Theatre is made possible by
Home State Bank of Louisville.

The Lofte will hold two public performances on Saturday, June 19th, 2010.  The first
is at 3pm, the second at 6pm.  Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

More information about "King Arthur's Quest" can be found on the Lofte's website,
www.Lofte.com.

The Lofte Community Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization
supported in part by The Cooper Foundation, The Midlands Community Foundation,
and the Cass County Visitors Promotion Committee.  The Lofte Community Theatre
is dedicated to providing opportunities for area residents of all ages to participate
in the creation process and companionship of live theatre in rural Nebraska and to
enjoy the social, artistic, and educational benefits of this art form.

HOW to KEEP these NEWSLETTERS COMING...

If you own a business or know a business owner that might want to advertise
through a sponsorship for our website,  please send them our way.  Our only
means of staying afloat is through the businesses that sponsor and advertise on
Nebraska Community Websites ~ those listed throughout the Newsletter each week.

So patronize the sponsors advertising here and tell them where you saw their ad,
then pass the word to others!

Thanks!
