Violin-Fiddle

Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the

FOURTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE

This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 10, at 2:30 PM,
in the auditorium of the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.

In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice.  There will
also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a
Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle
tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning,
sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually
not allowed in any other contest.

The prizes for the winners in the Open Division are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and
$25 for 3rd place.  Prizes will also be awarded for 1st place in the other contests.

Registration for contestants starts at 1:30 PM the day of the FIDDLING BEE.  Admission is
$5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children.  Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free.

Sightreading Workshop

A Sightreading Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2010,
from 1 PM - 3 PM in the Old Avoca Schoolhouse, in picturesque Avoca,
Nebraska.

This will be a wonderful opportunity  to play with other music students, and
sightread music that you've never seen before, and don't have to ever see again.

During the workshop, musicians will  be discussing how to negotiate new
compositions with minimum stress, and maximum music.  The beauty of
this workshop is that all you have to do is show up!

There is no preparation necessary, although pre-registration
is required, and there is a $20.00 fee.

For more information, call 402-275-3221,
or e-mail debby@greenblattandseay.com.

Auditions for Fall Farce at the Lofte

The Lofte Community Theatre will be holding auditions for its fall comedy, "Unnecessary Farce,"
on Monday, September 6 and Tuesday, September 7 at 7pm.  No advance preparation is necessary.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Written by Paul Slade Smith, "Unnecessary Farce" is a fast-paced, high energy comedy.
An embezzling mayor is trying to schedule a rendezvous with his beautiful assistant.  Throw in a
couple of undercover cops, a hit man and various other over-the-top characters and you have the
recipe for fun.

Artistic Director Kevin Colbert is looking for four men and three women of various ages.
Performance dates are Oct 15-17, 22-24, 28-31.  Questions about the audition or the production
itself may be directed to Kevin Colbert at LofteDirector@Lofte.com, or by calling the Lofte at (402) 234-2553.

The Lofte Community Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization supported in part by
The Cooper Foundation, The Midlands Community Foundation, and the Cass County Visitors Promotion
Committee.  The Lofte Community Theatre is dedicated to providing opportunities for area residents of all
ages to participate in the creation process and companionship of live theatre in rural Nebraska and to
