Warm days and cool nights have offered some very colorful foliage to us here in the heartland this Fall.
Enjoying a drive through Arbor Lodge State Park in Nebraska City last week, I stopped to take a few shots of the beautiful trees.

SALUTING ALL VETERANS
A salute to the brave men and women who have served
in our Armed Forces was held the morning of Veteran's Day,
Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Conestoga Junior-Senior High School.
The Conestoga band played the song of each branch of the military, as well as a variety of patriotic selections, as guests made their way to their seats.
Principal, Dave Friedli, below, extended a warm welcome to all attending guests and 'thanks' to all of our service people, both retired and active duty.
FFA Members, Kirsten Clawson, Shannon King, Melissa Beck and Brendan Behrns presented, then retired, the Colors.
The program also included Jonathan Lombardi reading the 'Presidential Proclamation of Veteran's Day', below,
The Conestoga Graphic Design Class made a video presentation, "Saying Thank You to All Veterans", that was shown during the program.
Junior High Veteran's Day Poster Contest award winners were named, above, and the Senior High Choir, shown below, sang, "America's Anthem".

Feb. 1 is Deadline for DEQ Grants

Todd has touched so many lives, so please share the memorial service information with others and please keep his family in your thoughts.

Although the Lincoln paper has listed a "funeral" for Saturday, Todd Wills DID NOT WANT a FUNERAL - thus the memorial service at the school, as mentioned above.
This would be the most respectful to Todd's own wishes and to those of his family.
Todd was a Husker Fan so wear your Husker Red and be loud!
There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in a trip to
Switzerland and Italy during the summer of 2012.

at this point you are giving free food to animals at many shelters.
Now you'll get a message "Thank you your click has been counted!"
In the middle of the screen you'll see - "Ready for the Holiday Shelter Challenge?"

The first time you vote you will need to enter all the information -

Click on "search"
It will locate the shelter and display the name and location - when it does click "VOTE"
One more step ...... Confirm your vote (name the animal) and you're done.
After you do this the first time, you can save it in your favorites (it will retain all the shelter info) and

SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLE WORKSHOP
FOLKS WHO HAVE NEVER FIDDLED
For folks who have never played a fiddle or violin, and are brave enough to try, come
to the Schoolhouse Fiddle Workshop for Folks Who Have Never Fiddled.
Championship fiddler and fiddle book author, Deborah Greenblatt, will share some hints
about beginning fiddling, shopping for a fiddle, reading music, playing by ear, etc.
Fiddles will be available for participants to play, and source lists and advice for further
study will be provided.
The Workshop takes place on Saturday, November 20, 2010, 1 PM - 3 PM, in the
Old Avoca Schoolhouse, Avoca, Nebraska.
