What's New

Murray Newsletter - November 17, 2010

Warm days and cool nights have offered some very colorful foliage to us here in the heartland this Fall.

Enjoying a drive through Arbor Lodge State Park in Nebraska City last week, I stopped to take a few shots of the beautiful trees.

Hope you enjoy them!

A salute to the brave men and women who have served
in our Armed Forces was held the morning of Veteran's Day,
Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Conestoga Junior-Senior High School.

The Conestoga band played the song of each branch of the military, as well as a variety of patriotic selections, as guests made their way to their seats.

Principal, Dave Friedli, below, extended a warm welcome to all attending guests and 'thanks' to all of our service people, both retired and active duty.

FFA Members, Kirsten Clawson, Shannon King, Melissa Beck and Brendan Behrns presented, then retired, the Colors.

The program also included Jonathan Lombardi reading the 'Presidential Proclamation of Veteran's Day', below,

Andrea Tesarek reading, "They Did Their Share", shown above, and guest speaker, Lt. Col. Leslie Feight, USMC, spoke of his 28 years serving and protecting the United States.  Lt. Col. Feight, below, then took questions from audience members.

The Conestoga Graphic Design Class made a video presentation, "Saying Thank You to All Veterans", that was shown during the program.

Junior High Veteran's Day Poster Contest award winners were named, above,  and the Senior High Choir, shown below,  sang, "America's Anthem".

Again, a big
'THANK YOU' to ALL veterans and active duty personnel
for protecting our most precious freedoms every day.

From Todd Will's family:

Although the Lincoln paper has listed a "funeral" for Saturday, Todd Wills DID NOT WANT a FUNERAL - thus the memorial service at the school, as mentioned above.

Todd was a Husker Fan so wear your Husker Red and be loud!
