garden harvest

In the garden, Autumn is, indeed the crowning glory of the year,
bringing us the fruition of months of thought and care and toil.
And at no season, safe perhaps in Daffodil time, do we get such
superb colour effects as from August to November.

“The Red Velvet Cake Wars” Brings Family Fun to the Lofte

The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces its next production “The Red Velvet Cake Wars” by Jones, Hope and Wooten will open Friday, September 9 at 7:30pm. “Red Velvet” is the hilarious tale of three cousins, Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette who are organizing the Verdeen family reunion in Sweetgum, Texas. Betty Colbert of Weeping Water, Rosalie Duffy of Lincoln and Renae Koehler of Firth star as the three crazy cousins. Directed by Kevin Colbert, the cast also includes Trish Miller, Fred Sagedal and Rita McKinney of Omaha, Chris Werger of Eagle, Ken Snyder of Elmwood, Patricia Heather of Waverly, Steve Martin of Firth, Alexandra Geditz of Louisville and Cheryl Jones of Manley.

“The Red Velvet Cake Wars” will be on the Lofte stage September 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18. Showtimes Thursday through Saturday are 7:30pm. Both Sunday performances are 2pm matinees. Thurs-Sat 7:30 p.m.

The Verdeen cousins (Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette) could not have picked a worse time to schedule their family reunion. They face an uphill battle on the hottest day in July, smack-dab in the middle of Texas tornado season. Soon a parade of wildly eccentric Verdeen's descend upon their southern town and things spin hilariously out of control. You will wish your own family reunions were this much fun!

This production runs for seven dates over the course of two weekends. Be sure to make your reservations and don't miss this family-friendly hootenanny!
