The home of Joyce and Bill Johnson was one hot spot in Murray last Friday and Saturday, simply because their oven didn't shut off for many, many hours!
A bake sale for Kris' Krew, an American Cancer Society 'Relay for Life' team, was held there
and it was a mighty 'tasty' event, to say the least. Johnson's daughter, Melanie Honaker, also helped organize this memorable day.
This is just a small sample of the items for sale that day.
Joyce, a former school cook, knew how to bake for a crowd, so she made her 'famous', giant-sized cinnamon rolls that disappeared in the blink of an eye! By 11 a.m. the first day, the cinnamon rolls were completely gone. She even started taking orders for the next day. With a quick run to the grocery store to replenish baking supplies, Joyce was back in the kitchen mixing up some more!

Melanie baked banana bread, while friends and neighbors brought cakes, cookies, brownies, bars and pies.

Kris' Krew was established in memory of Kristine Johnson, Joyce and Bill's daughter and Melanie, Bill Jr. and LeeAnn's sister. She's also survived by her loving husband, Brad, and three young sons. Kris was diagnosed with lymphoma in November of 2007, but last summer, just seven months after her fight began, she lost her battle against cancer.
